Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). Super friendly and helpful. Wonderful place. Great vibe. Guitars and Piano available. Two onsen. Breakfast and vegan dinner was included. I fully recommend staying here for at least one night l. Go for a hike and enjoy the quiet island in the early morning and evening.

We also arrived back to our room one particularly cold afternoon to find that the host had switched the heater on for us which was incredibly welcome on our cold bones.

This is such a great place! If you want to experience authentic Japanese family living, I highly recommend staying here. The host family is absolutely lovely. Even though we didn’t speak the same language, you could really feel their warmth and hospitality.

We loved staying in an older traditional style Japanese home and experiencing sleeping on the tatami floor. The room was very spacious and the owners were kind and lovely people! The location was on the opposite end of the shopping street from the train station so lots of opportunity to see the town. We loved this stay!

The location is simply stunning, the guesthouse sits peacefully on the seafront of tranquil Mukaishima Island, surrounded by lush vegetation and easily accessible by car. It's the perfect destination if you're cycling along the Shimanami Kaido. Youko is an incredible host, warm, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful. She provided excellent recommendations for bike rentals, local restaurants, and activities, and every day left thoughtful notes at reception highlighting events happening in the area. When we accidentally left our backpack (with passports inside!) at the guesthouse, she promptly mailed it to our next destination without hesitation. Our 8-year-old daughter, Alice, loved the play area in the communal dining space, bouncing on the trampoline in the garden, and meeting the resident animals: friendly sheep, two charming cats, and Maroon, the adorable dog. The property itself is spotless. We stayed in one of the Japanese-style rooms, which felt spacious by Japanese standards, and offered spectacular views over the bay. The rooftop terrace was another highlight for us. We'd wholeheartedly recommend staying here, it’s truly a special place.

Onomichi Guest House Miharashi-tei se găsește în Onomichi, la câțiva pași de Templul Senkoji, și oferă un bar și vedere la oraș. The guest house is located on a hill and has a beautiful view over the city. It is indeed quite steep to get there and you'll be sweating upon arrival, but it is definitely worth it. The staff is extremely helpful and he speaks English perfectly. Of course, the futon is not as comfortable as a normal bed, but it is about the experience. I would definitely go there again.
