Ideally located just a 10-minute walk from the iconic Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Guesthouse Soi offers various rooms including private Japanese-style rooms and dormitory rooms. It's a great locating in a quiet street. The guesthouse itself is so warm and cozy, and the ability to have a private bathroom in a traditionally laid out inn was great.

Despite the unstable weather conditions I felt safe and enjoyed my tea time when there was need to stay indoors. -I received some sensible advice and was fortunate to be at the amazing 建仁寺 illumination experience which I had no idea before. -There was even a night tour, I learnt so much about the Geisha culture and had an unforgettable night view, the host’s passion for Kyoto was infectious.

Our quick two day trip to Kyoto was excellent and it was made perfect with our stay at Azukiya. When planning this last minute trip I was surprised that this B&B was available. The pictures and description on the site was exactly what we got. It was just PERFECT and gave us the Japanese experience. Our host was the sweetest and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. There are add-ons if you stay like bike rentals and breakfast but we didn't take advantage of it but we could smell her cooking every morning and it smelled AWESOME. We wish we would have taken advantage of that. The location was perfect for us. It was far enough away from the city center for us and in walking distance to the places we wanted to visit. It was also very close to the subway that we used to start our trek back home. All in all, this place was everything we expected and even more. We hope to visit again in the near future.

She provided a lot of useful information of the surrounding area and was very welcoming! The place itself is in a convenient location making it easy to travel where you want.

Our son injured his ankle while touring and they very kindly rented a wheel chair on our behalf. We will be forever grateful for their timely and obliging assistance. As for the hotel / rooms: they are lovely "Japanese modern", well equipped, and spotless. Bonus points for the elevator! Location is a 5-ish min. walk to the metro. A quick jump to Kyoto station and, as someone else noted, "a straight shot to Nara". (We didn't check and had to transfer on the way there, but not on the way back). The area is quiet and authentic. It was nice to head "home", away from the tourist bustle! We could easily have paid twice as much, for half as much space, in another location. So glad we didn't! We would stay at Family Inn Kai again in a heartbeat, should we be lucky enough to visit Kyoto again.
