We like the people, especially the manager Inbaraj, who is a great and kind man. He showed us the cinnamon plantations and explained how everything is used, he was so kind. We liked the dinner, the best chicken curry we tried so far in Sri Lanka, also there was a desert, we liked a lot. The room was clean, sanitized, everything was great, the view from our room was great. Mr. Inbaraj also treat us with the best papaya juice, coffee and the plantation harvests. We are so grateful and happy that we choose this place for our stay in Yala. The place is also near the Yala park, which was great as well.

Afterwards, we went with Rajew and a friend to a hidden waterfall that only locals know about. We had the entire place to ourselves and were able to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere for a long time. Later, we visited his friend’s home and shared a delicious meal together. The rooms were very clean and beautifully furnished, and the value for money was absolutely outstanding. It was a truly special experience, full of warmth and genuine connection. We are deeply grateful to Ruwan from the bottom of our hearts!

Set in Wellawaya and only 28 km from Demodara Nine Arch Bridge, Hotel Serugahawatta offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. The property features quiet street views and is 13 km from Buduruwagala Temple and 20 km from Ella Rock. The accommodation provides airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. We, my girlfriend and I, have experienced our stay as a wonderful journey. When we arrived, we were faced with a closed gate, but within seconds the owner arrived. After checking in, we entered the room – perfect! A nice big bed, a clean and spacious bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everything you could need! After having a little chat, the hotel owner asked about our plans. We mentioned that we came for the nature and tranquility, and without hesitation, he offered to show us around the area. This was the start of an experience we will never forget. 🙏 First, we went to a small waterfall, very local with no tourists – just some local youngsters hanging out who even offered us a beer. Then he took us to Diyaluma Falls – what a massive waterfall that was! He offered us lunch, which he had made himself! A sandwich we’ll never forget; it was incredibly delicious. Next, we visited Buduruwagala Rock Carvings, where the owner introduced us to Buddhism. The place was surrounded by nature – trees, plants, birds – pure enjoyment. We thought we were heading back to the hotel, but nothing could be further from the truth. We visited real monks, where we received blessings and a white bracelet from an elderly monk. They also offered us boiled corn – so tasty! After the visit, we continued back to the hotel. On the way, we ran into a friend of the owner, who invited us to their home. When we arrived, the whole family was there to meet us. What kind and friendly people! They offered us tea and chocolate biscuits, and my girlfriend even received a gift! It gave us such a happy feeling, something we will cherish forever. ❤️ Then it was time to head back to the hotel – or so we thought. Instead, we went elephant spotting! Yes, you read that right – real wild elephants! It got quite late, but we spotted several wild animals, including both a male and female elephant. This, too, will stay with us forever.

The owner is a special person and he will host you at his best, you could feel sourranded by attention since the beginning. The place is a farm in the middle of a sugarcane plantation. You will sleep having an open window to sounds of nature and fireflys will appear over your beds. Everything is super clean and the dinner was fantastic, prepared by the host’s mum. We made a Safari at Yala gate 3 and thanks to wonderful guidance we saw 3 leopards, mangust, eagles and crocodiles We are first guest from Italy..i cannot recommend it more!!

The property is beautifully situated on a lake. At sunset and sunrise you can walk there in a minute and see thousands of birds. We saw Ibis, 3 types of kingfishers, all kinds of herons, pelicans, and much more. There’s an open air restaurant on the property which is cosy and serves delicious food. We wanted to try the local lake fish (Koralli) and the owner gladly bought fresh ones and barbecued them for us. Super tasty!
