We lived in a real neighborhood, which meant the dogs barked, there were sometimes odd neighbor noises, construction here and there, but everything eventually quieted down at night. I didn't fit into the house very well. I am tall and getting older, and I think it's an environment that works for the young and slightly more compact person. But, I still loved it just the same. I'd certainly stay there again if in Patan.

The homestay is in a perfect location, with only 15 minutes walk to Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery. The view of the surrounding hills and villages was spectacular. The homestay staff was very attentive and provided authentic tasty food. The guy from the UK took us to look around the villages and introduced the meaningful innovative program to install water tank and pipeline for the village inhabitants. The unique experience brough us a closer look to the life of the local Tamang people.

The room had charging plugs right near the bed, and each room is its own floor so the bathroom — adjacent — is private. There is a water dispenser and a kettle on each floor as well. This is a house of a local family, so it’s a best way to stay here and get the most of local life. I spent a whole week here for the Nepali new year and had several Newari dinner meals with the host’s family (include a new year feast). I learned to properly eat with my hand. And I appreciate they changed the food every day a bit when I said I like to try more kinds of local food. The rooptop is the best place to have a full view of the Dubar Square and valley, I really enjoyed to stay up there every morning and night, so peaceful and chill. During the festival, the host provided all the infos about when and where to see the celebrations and even show me around, tell stories about Bhaktapur and the festival. It’s the place I would like to come back one day.

Everything is perfect here, the owners, the food (literally each dish was the best I had in Nepal), the views, the ambience… There are some hikes around, town is walking distance, cute local villages too! Stayed 4 nights but I’d definitely stay even longer next time!
