Before coming to Rio, I was a bit worried about safety, but this hostel completely put my mind at ease. It has its own secure entrance, which made me feel very safe. The metro station is just a few minutes’ walk, making transportation super convenient. There are several supermarkets nearby, which is very handy, and the beach is only about a 20-minute walk away—perfect for a stroll or relaxing. I really enjoyed staying here and would definitely choose this hostel again next time I visit Rio!

Loved the location although Lady Gaga concert was on same day of my arrival so chaotic to get to Leme. Lovely, bright, clean hostel - dorms are perfect and a curtain and mozzie net on each cubicle provides extra privacy. hot showers, cleaned daily. great breakfast - highly recommend it.

had such a great experience staying at Bamboo Rio! The location is super convenient—just a few minutes from the beach and close to everything you need. The facilities were clean, the pool area was a lovely bonus, and the atmosphere was always friendly and chill. But what really made my stay special were the amazing staff members. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and helpful from the moment I arrived. I especially want to give a big shoutout to Pedro, who always went the extra mile—whether it was offering great local tips, helping organize activities, or just making everyone feel at home with his positive energy. You can tell the team here genuinely cares about the guests. Thank you Bamboo Rio for making my time in Rio unforgettable. I’ll definitely be back!

Great vibes, great staff, I felt super welcome and made many friends, its a good place to socialize. The surrounding area is really nice and you are sleeping in a real awesome castle! They even let me relax at the pool for hours after I checked out!

Very beautiful architecture, clean rooms and facilities, uncomplicated booking process with no prepayment (not typical for Brazil), beautiful views , facilities to have healthy home cooked food for a good price (not just burgers and pizzas), safety and security, and the most important the wonderful and welcoming staff. If you come here expecting a big party hostel with a lot of alcohol and testosterone fueled action , you will be disappointed. If you come here for a peaceful place to relax and get some quiet time away from the crowds you will be very happy.

We can’t speak highly enough for this property. Clean, great views from our room on the upper floor and the kitchen / dining area. Location ideal for us, good restaurants nearby, a short stroll to the Escadaria Selarón (which we did just before 6am to beat the crowds), close enough to the city / buses / subway for us. Awesome host who gave us great tips throughout our stay; including local Samba venues.
