When I first booked at Tinto Hostel, I was in the process of looking for a tranquil and quiet place to stay for the last month of my 9-month journey abroad. After spending two nights in Barichara and at Tinto Hostel, I knew I had landed in the perfect spot. I ended up extending my stay from 2 nights to almost a full month. The hostel is surrounded by rich greenery which made it all that more relaxing and rejuvenating. I felt I was sleeping in a beautiful garden yet, the dorm room was very clean, comfortable, and spacious. The beds were also much bigger than any dorm room that I'd stayed in throughout my journey in Colombia. The location was perfect and close to everything. The town of Barichara itself, was absolutely stunning. The cost was extremely affordable. The owner Javier and his staff were wonderful and a delight to be around. Javier upon arrival, provided everyone with a map of the town and recommended the best places to eat, shop, and sites to see. Javier was always available for anything guests needed and was always helpful in any way possible. Javier is an exceptional host and I will miss him and his staff greatly.

First, I stayed for 3 weeks there! I've felt like being in a small family! Jen and Felipe are so welcoming! They will make you feel comfortable as soon as you arrive with their beautifull smile and their overwhelming feeling of happiness! PLUS, they offer 3 meals for cheap prices! The food is just amazing and they have vegeterian options as well which are also super tasty! I played music a lot with Felipe and the other guests! It's the perfect place for those who wants to have a peacefull and quiet hostel far from the crowdy San Gill center! Also, they have 3 cats and 2 dogs which are sooo gentle! I truelly recommand this hostel! I also forgot my headphones there and they offered me to send it back to my home by post! Thank you Jen and Felipe!

the best place we have been to in south america. we stayed for 4 nights and felt like home. the place is very comfortable, there are a lot of facilities - pool, sitting areas, TV, yoga mattress, games, good kitchen and more.

I spent a wonderful 6 nights in La Casona Don Juan. It’s one corner from the main square, practically everything is in walking distance. The breakfast (which is included in the price) is delicious, a good amount and you have different options. You can also ask for extra veggies. There’s free coffee and tea available all day long. They serve various fast food until 9 pm, and there’s also a bar. All the staff members has been great, very kind and helpful with anything. They were calling me by my name after a couple of days :) A wide range of activities can be booked through them. The room was always clean, they clean them every day and even make your bed. It was also spacious with plenty of space to keep your stuff. Most of the beds in the dorms are single beds, not bunkbeds. They give you free towels. Lockers are available for free with keys. The bathrooms are well equipped and were always clean. There’s a large garden that acts as the biggest common area with very chill vibes.

Absolutely everything was fantastic. The staff was amazing, they gave great recomendations for activites in and around San Gil, you can book things directly through them, each and every one was friendly and helpful. They also organize their activities (we went to play tejo). As far as the hostel, we stayed in a private room, it was clean and spacious, comfortable, just the bed is quite noisy. Truly a 10/10 experience.

My 2nd time here and it’s amazing! Everything is cool, safe and cozy. You need to come here if you are going to relax mentally. Far from the city, from the crowd. This hostel is situation in the heart of Barichara, walking distance to everything in the quaint, beautiful town. The room exceeded our expectations as did the staff. Really enjoyed staying with the trip monkey hostel chain and would highly recommend.
