I was so glad to get the chance to stay at Del Cielo. Tomas is an inspiring guy who is going to (and has done) amazing things for La Loma. The area feels like a home away from home, so incredibly safe, I got a bit lost one evening, and I was walked back to the hostel by locals. So kind. It's super easy to jump on the local buses and get to the metro, it's not far from all the places you want to go. Ubers learn something new everything time they go there, seeing it's a great place to live and stay and that people want to visit and stay in La Loma. The hostel itself is super friendly, and everyone is lovely. Lili, the kids, Tomas. When I was there, there was an empanada cooking class, and a barbecue where everyone got involved, and got to know each other. Lili gave me some salsa tips, and I learned about Call Me Mamá. What a great project. Each day I was there, there was a new piece of equipment added to the kitchen, a conscious effort to constantly improve. The View!!! Breathtaking, day and night!! Impossible to grow tired of. I think this hostel is going to grow in its success and popularity, and I wish it all the success possible. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING AT THIS HOSTEL FOR AN AUTHENTIC Medellin experience. ❤️

The hostel was in a great location away from all the madness of tourist areas. The staff was awesome. I felt very safe and secure at this hostel. The manager and his staff know how to run a hostel.

Ah the breakfast. I didn’t have it the first two day because I didn’t know. Then I had it and I’m supposed to pay and I didn’t until a day later. Then I expected it and found out I had to pay. So probably if I could speak better Spanish I would understand. When I extended maybe I paid a different price with no breakfast. Don’t know. Breakfast was good.

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
