The area seems safe. Common/dinning area looked comfortable (been there while not crowded) Hostels usually don't offer free breakfast. At Aloha, even basic (coffee/tea/lactose free/regular milk/brown and white bread, margarine/marmalade, cookies, cereals, orange juice) seems a nice gesture. Not sure why people complain.
