The Hostel Stories in Varkala is an incredibly friendly place to stay if you're visiting Varkala. I’ve been there for three weeks, and from the very first day, I felt at home—even though it was my first time in India! The hostel has a beautiful garden with hammocks, chairs, and fruit trees, always filled with good vibes and friendly people to chat with. The atmosphere is both calm and welcoming, making it easy to connect with other travelers while also having space to relax on your own. If you're traveling solo, I promise you won’t feel lonely! There’s also a lovely terrace where you can practice yoga early in the morning, hang your clothes to dry, or simply lie back and watch the stars at night. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hostel is just a short walk from the South Cliff, where you’ll find the amazong ocean, cafés, restaurants, and all the shops you might need. A huge thank you to Pintu and all the staff at the hostel—you made my stay unforgettable!

This hostel is perfect. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and come with a fan. There’s also a rooftop where you can do yoga or just hang out and have a good time with friends. It’s a quiet, relaxing place and very well located close to Varkala Beach and Black Sand Beach, one of the calmest beaches in the area. From here, you can walk north along the entire coastline, which is a really beautiful experience. I totally recommend it.

I came for a day and ended up staying for 4, the peaceful vibe of this hostel kept me wanting to extend, perfect place to take meetings and have a workation. The wifi was great! I had no problems with the network. Location is so convenient, away from the crowded area yet walkable to the cliff. I had a great time there. Their balcony has a great view, greenery all around, perfect spot to take work calls from without anyone distrubing. They also have a common kitchen so tea breaks were very convenient.

Beautiful and peaceful location, avoiding the crowds and commercialization of other parts of Varkala. I really enjoyed the property which is huge, has an enchanting garden and is in close proximity to the beach. The garden is well-maintained, everything neat and clean, you will see flowers, trees, and the buildings are harmonously located in between them. There is a huge common space, opened to either side, covered by a wooden roof. Simply wonderful to sit here during rain! The staff is super helpful, competent and somehow spread really good vibes. I was instantly calming down when I arrived here and felt so peaceful and comfortable.

Yes Hostel in Varkala isn’t just a place to stay it’s a vibe, a community, and for me, a turning point. As a first time solo traveler, I was unsure about the whole hostel experience. But trusting my instincts and booking four nights here turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the moment I arrived, I felt a genuine sense of belonging that completely changed my perception of hostel life. Harish, the host, is incredibly welcoming and made me feel at ease right away. Shafeeq, the ever jovial chef, brought laughter and warmth to every moment. Vineesh, the creative soul behind the hostel’s quirky art, added a splash of personality to the space. And Steven, a fellow traveler from Hyderabad, became an unexpected companion whose presence made my stay even more memorable. They helped me plan my daily itinerary and even included me in their evening hangouts walking along the cliffside beach, sharing stories, and playing endless rounds of badminton. And then there’s Angel, their adorable indie dog, who added an extra layer of comfort and companionship to my stay. She’s the kind of furry friend who makes a place feel like home. This experience completely reshaped my perception of hostels. What started as a solo trip ended with me gaining a second family. I’d choose Yes Hostel again in a heartbeat no second thoughts, no regrets. If you're looking for a place that’s not just comfortable but also filled with warmth, laughter, and unforgettable company, this is it. I just checked out of Haust, Varkala, after an amazing stay. The place was peaceful and quiet, offering a perfect retreat. Wasim, the caretaker, was incredibly helpful, guiding me with bike rentals, the best food spots, and must-visit places. The property was well-maintained and had a fantastic vibe. .

Stunning location of you want access to a secluded little beach away from the hustle and bustle which gets pretty unbearable at the weekend. Lovely staff (thanks Pooja!) who helped me book my train. Rooms are basic but miraculously cool thanks to sea breeze. No mosquito problems. Nice outdoor area. Great place!

I stopped by the hostel before checking-in. The place looked amazing. A great location at the edge of North cliff. Amazing patio with seating, helpful staff. I was looking forward to stay but unfortunately I had an injury and had to go to a hospital instead. The injury required stitches and it took over a month to heal. The staff and the manager helped me to cancel my booking and get my money back. If I ever return to Varkala, I hope to stay with them!
