It is a very cool hostel, its build in a traditional japanese house and it has a nice common room to spen time meeting another travelers. Has everything you need and it is a very short walk from Matsumoto castle and downtown. The owner is super nice and helpful and they even have some free bikes (first come, first served) to use to go around the city.

Very stylish, modern clean, comfortable property with very welcoming staff who helped us plan our hike around the area. Really nice lounge area for hostel guests. Walking to the trailheads for Mt. Hikarujo about an hour walk (5km)or you can cycle. Big supermarket and big Muji store nearby

The hostel was in a lovely location in Asama Onsen with nearby hikes. The hostel was clean and the staff friendly. It was good value for money.

I spent 4 nights in Popotel Three. It was very nice, comfortable and very clean. The owner is very friendly and make you feel like home. Communication before arrival was perfect. Clear instructions to find the house. I highly recommend this place if you want to explore Matsumoto and surroundings (10-15 min max from the train station). I would just add a small lamp next to the bed in Room A 😁

Even though I made a last minute decision to visit Asahi the hosts were very nice and helpful! The atmosphere in the guesthouse was great.

Great location near the train station, and close to many restaurants. Large supermarket is less than 10 minutes walk away. Largely traditional Japanese style with usable shared kitchen. Rooms simple but comfortable. The managers create a very welcoming environment. The only downside that may concern some, is that as the property is 90 years old, it can be cold at times
