lovely traditional hotel with large traditional rooms and lovely onsen which is open until late. great location right by the sea front and the staff were so lovely and kind and very helpful and accommodating. I especially appreciated the two ladies at the front desk .

Kokahe felt like home during my stay in Beppu because of how warm and friendly the owner is. For example, I injured myself while out exploring and upon returning to the hostel, the kind owner, without any hesitation, attended to my injury by supplying me with a heat pack. She made me feel very welcome during my stay in Beppu and because of her I hope to visit again soon!

The dorm was under construction so they let me stay in a private double room and it was a beautiful Japanese style one, with tatami and a Mt Fuji paint. The hostel was in lo-fi style, very cool common aerea with low music. The kitchen was well equipped. The reception was at the beautiful café, vintage style where some days you could have dinner as well. I had some fried potatoes with egg and cheese and it was good. The staff was very friendly and available to give suggestions about places to see and where to eat, and they could speak a good English. The hostel was close to both bus and train station.

even though some of the interior is showing it’s age the place is nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. the staff was always willing to help and the Wi-Fi was reliable. for me the best part was the free bicycle rental and free laundry, I went everywhere with the bike and hanged my clothes dry in my room. all this for a cheap price, can’t beat the value.

The beds were comfortable, and the hostel had good facilities, including a common room, although I didn't use them very much. The hostel is in a good location for a lot of Onsen and the hot springs.
