- you can leave your baggage in the hotel for ¥200 even after your check-out in the room, where only stuff can enter, so you do not have to worry about it - very close to Tennoji station - shared places - kitchen, lounge, eating space very spacious and comfortable - kind stuff :)

Please note that I’m quite a pedantic person, and a hostel is the last place I would want to stay at. When I saw Hostel Chillax’s listing on Booking.com, I was immediately drawn to the place. I’m travelling Japan alone for the first time, and wanted to find somewhere affordable and conducive to meeting new people. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by the friendly Nori-san, the proprietor. I hadn’t realised that I had accidentally booked a female-only dorm, much to my disappointment in myself. Nori-san was understanding and gracious, and offered me a private room for the night until a bed in one of the other dorms had freed up. His hospitality and generosity is world-class, and his proficiency in English made communicating even easier with my very limited Japanese. As for the amenities: I am somewhat a germaphobe, and was worried about the bathroom facilities before arriving. However, upon seeing the shower room and toilet, I was pleasantly surprised and extremely relieved at the cleanliness and orderliness. The staff were all helpful and approachable, and made me feel immediately comfortable in my lodging. The location is perfect, and only about a 10-minute walk to Dōtonbori district. The terrace out back overlooking the river is a beautiful little spot to read a book and sip on a beer while watching the hustle and bustle of the city. The hostel is decked out in reggae memorabilia, and there’s always some great music playing in the background. There’s even an NES console in the living area! The vibes were immaculate. Thank you so much Nori-san for allowing me to stay in your wonderful establishment, and many thanks to your staff for their help. If I could give the place 6 stars, I would! Next time I return to Osaka, I will definitely be staying at Hostel Chillax, hopefully for even longer!

Wonderful place exceeded my expectations. It's easy to find, 1 minute away from the metro station and 6 or 7 minutes from the JR Shin Imamiya station. JR Tennoji is like 15 minutes walking distance. Clean bathrooms and toilets even though they're shared. Traditional bed; futon, was really comfortable. Meet very nice people in there. will definitely come back when I come to Japan again.

This place is super cute!!!!!! Tucked away in a perfect location. The owner (regrettably i forget her name!) is so divine and friendly. I had a hand written note left on my bed - so cute! And the bed itself was private and comfy. The owner has also compiled a list of the best izakayas/eateries/bars/anything else you need. And her recs are phenomenal - definitely try the steak place around the corner and her favourite okonomiyaki place for dinner - WOW. Yes the communal areas are on the smaller side but it has everything kitted out and such a homey vibe. She let me check in early too - hoenstly a legend

We came for the artsy area and loved it all. The area was just as imagined, a former industrial area that artsy people have transformed into a warm place where everyone feels welcome. And this is utmost true of Air Osaka Hostel with its unique vibe. Writing, painting on the walls is welcome! How many hostels have that? The rest I'll leave you to discover by your own. ;) The owner Tomo and the whole staff is really nice and welcoming. Ask any question and they'll help you if they can. We had the japanese room near tge toilet. Really quiet. Not disturbing at all. I recommend Café Nams for a great cup of coffee. And check out the little park nearby. Tge cherry trees were blooming as we were there. There's also a kids playground. We were on a low budget and ate several meals in the park (bought at Lawson down the streat.) In case you haven't been to Japan before and donn't know: You can choose from a wide range of full meals at Japanese convinient stores and for a really affordable price.

Super comfy and spacious. Very clean and overall nice atmosphere. Room as AC. A few more facilities (kettle, coin laundry) would be lovely, but there was enough to get by and I stayed there for about 2.5 weeks! I really loved it here !!
