I arrived at this hostel to spend one night and ended up 4 and leaving was completely heartbroken 🥹❤️‍🩹It is a family hostel where I felt like one of the family, I am very very happy and grateful to have been lucky enough to find such a ✨special ✨place to which I will definitely return and of course recommend, because thanks to the hosts my experience in Sigiriya was spectacular🌄. Great place to enjoy the cultural and beautiful area. The hostel is mew amd really clean. Wooden beds with good materials, quiet place with kitchen and chill vibes to be in touch with the nature. The lwner is really helpful in everything you need and he has bikes to rent.

This new place is very nice, rooms are comfortable and super clean, AC and nice shower, the bed is super comfortable. Staff super kind, breakfast and diner are included if you want to stay in the hotel, super good deal for the price of my stay! And possible to rent bike / tuktuk if you want to have diner in the city (2min drive / 5min biking)

Honestly one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at during my time in Sri Lanka. The place is clean and comfortable, breakfast was always delicious, and the one dinner I had there turned out to be the best meal of my trip — tasty, generous, and great quality. What really made it special was the people. Maliya was so kind and helpful, always there if I needed anything. He even took me to a beautiful sunset spot nearby and walked me to the bus stop when I checked out. Those small gestures really meant a lot and made the stay unforgettable. Highly recommend this place!

We unexpectedly found ourselves in the heart of the Sri Lankan jungle at Hakuna Matata Hostel — and for just £5 a night with breakfast included. Yes, five! My teenage daughter couldn’t help but quip, “Mum, you make us look broke.” But this isn’t being broke — this is backpacking at its finest: affordable, raw, and bursting with adventure. Surrounded by towering trees, the sounds of birds, and monkeys rustling through jackfruit trees, this place is truly a hidden gem. I’ll admit, I only booked one night to test the waters, but with a perfect 10/10 rating from travellers across the globe (not just locals), I took a chance. I'm so glad I did. We had to reroute our entire trip due to heavy monsoon rains and limited accommodation options elsewhere. What began as a backup plan turned into the highlight of our journey. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and sincerity: “While you stay with us, you are part of our family.” And they meant it. No inflated tourist prices, no rehearsed smiles — just genuine people and heartfelt hospitality. The rooms are simple but clean and cosy with mosquito nets, and the atmosphere is something you can’t buy: peace, community, and a true slice of authentic Sri Lanka. We've stayed in far more expensive places on this trip, but none have matched the soul we found here. In a country where tourist traps can leave you feeling like a walking wallet, this place was refreshingly honest. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Would I come back? I extended another 3 nights. For £5 a night? It’s not about saving money — it’s about gaining perspective. This is the kind of rich that stays with you.

We had a wonderful stay at this hostel! The place is impeccably clean and well-maintained, making it feel like a home away from home. The host is incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of his way to ensure a pleasant stay and offering great tips for local attractions. The traditional breakfast served each morning was absolutely delicious – a perfect start to the day! The hostel is located in a peaceful area, offering a calm and relaxing atmosphere, yet still close enough to everything you need.     The common area is very well put together, gives homie-vibes and it's very prone to meet other travelers in the hostel. The staff of the hostel, also, promote a good integration for everybody, organizing certain activities in group that everyone can participate in, like going to the lake, watching sunset in a secret place or doing BBQ Best hostel for backpackers and solo travelers no doubt Ah, and the food is amazing. Excellent really
