Great location in the historic centre. Nice rooms in what appears to be an old family apartment. Free Nespresso in the communal kitchens is a nice touch. Staff and owner are very nice. They put a bottle of port outside my door as a parting gift, so strongly recommended for those who enjoy a drink. Nice restaurant several feet away, and many more in the immediate area.

The view is amazing, the staff is incredibly helpful and the facilities are very well kept. The staff was very attentive: they upgraded our room for free because there was a better one ready and available; my boyfriend spent his birthday there and they prepared little surprises for him; they prepared us lunch out of hours. There are also a lot of activities to do, such as kayak or biking.

The facility is a youth hostel but we had a private room with ensuite bathroom and the whole facility to ourselves! We based ourselves in Tancos (a pretty town overlooking the river) to visit the stunning Knights Templar Almourol Castle. The facility is close to the railway station and an easy walk (about 1km) to the Castle along the River scenic walk. Ideal for our purposes. We enjoyed a drink at the bar next door. The all male patrons made us very welcome. We loved our time at Albergue da Juventude and would highly recommend it.
