What an amazing place! Architecturally stunning and the friendliest and most helpful staff imaginable. The breakfast was delightful with organic produce - homemade bread, lovely cheeses, muesli ingredients and a freshly brewed coffee all included - and it was so easy to check in and out and leave my bags until the end of the day after I’d checked out. The location is fantastic with buses to Basel Bad HbHf and Basel BSS running close by. Supermarket around the corner and lots of eateries close by also. Options for singles, couples and dorm rooms all in an inspiring post-modernist building overlooking an expressway that makes for fascinating viewing - beats a TV any day!

Set very close to banks of the River Rhine, this designer hostel is next to the old city gate of St. Alban. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast/lunch/dinner service were excellent.

Just 300 metres from the SBB Basel railway station (exit Gundeldingen), Hostel by Hyve Basel offers budget accommodation just a 15-minute walk from Basel's city centre. What a great value. My private room was large, clean, and comfortable. Great value in the friendly city of Basel.

Like probably most people, I came there mainly cause of the price and this was my first stay at a hostel. I didn't expect much yet when I arrived I got much more than (I thought) I paid for. Destination is great, right next to both a tram and bus stop. Rooms had many beds but never felt crowded. We all got lockers for our stuff. Whole hostel was clean and had a cool urban vibe. Apart from the showers, there was also a community stove, washer/dryer, iron and ironing board... everything you would need. Staff was super friendly. Everyone could take free coffee or tea at the lobby and the buffet breakfast was only 8CHF per day, which is cheap for Swiss standards. And on top of all that, everyone gets the Basel Card which gives a bunch of amenities in the city. Oh and also, the receptionist, on the day I was leaving, had a cool hat.

I thought since it is so cheap I am going into a scam, but it was very decent comfortable and worth the price.

This is the perfect place if you are staying for a few days, and are out and about during the day and evening. Big room, high ceilings, very clean, good mattress and pillows, and linen. There is a new kitchen with all the amenities, even a coffee machine! New bathroom with shower, cleaned every day. Within easy walk of the main train station and trams/bus.
