Surrounded by a lush garden, the Youth Hostel Locarno is 1.5 km away from the train station and the Lake Maggiore. i had to check in late due to a late night train, but the staffs were super helpful in ensuring that i manage to check in by myself. got a shared dorm all by myself and i thought the staffs were very considerate because i was pretty worried that i would wake the roommate during late night if i had one.

Highlight was having supper in the villages Restaurant Osteria Salzi (village square). Would recommend both to anyone hiking through on the Strada Alta and the Trans Swiss Route (Nr 2).

Set in the historical city centre of Bellinzona, Youth Hostel Bellinzona is just 500 metres from The Three Castles of Bellinzona, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hostel serves a buffet breakfast. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. It is really close to the train station, and all the key attaractions in town. It's also well connected with plenty of great hiking routes. The value for money is brilliant. A quick note (but I really did not mind that, and the hotel completely fulfilled my needs and expectations): as I was travelling in November, and the season was low, it was not possible to order breakfast.
