Applecross
Hartfield House Hostel offers pet-friendly accommodation in Applecross. Free private parking is available on site. There are extensive grounds and covered space for bikes, ideal for cyclists and walkers. The staff were super helpful on arrival and showed us where to eat, wash-up, relax, bathrooms and the room. Despite other reviews, we found it really clean and very well organised. It's a nice touch that there are spaces to leave your food labelled (pens and stickers provided) and then 'free' food for those who don't need it for their onward journeys. We were not on a hike or bike tour, but there were washing and drying facilities available and secure bike storage. I've not stayed in many hostels, but this was a step up from what I expected. Heard no evidence of other guests after 10pm or before 7am despite what seemed nearly a full house using the breakfast room in the morning. Either good soundproofing or a well-behaved set of guests. The only overnight noise was from the stags and highland cattle.

Cheap hostel in a great location, comfortable beds.
Really lovely friendly staff. Everything you need from a budget hostel. The towel hire service was a good send because we had forgotten ours. Great location.
Lovely property, clean and modern, great location, rooms very small, absolutely no sound proofing whatsoever.. was like sleeping in a dormitory with the room next door snoring and talking in there sleep, never slept a wink …
the atmosphere, from the friendly welcome to the décor and facilities, everything was beyond my expectations. This hostel is a great way to travel solo while meeting others. The facilities were also very clean and the kitchen well equipped for cooking. The staff and volunteers were also really friendly and all over I had a fab time. The dormitory also was very safe for a solo traveller. It really was a home away from home vibe.
It was a cheap hostel, so I'm not expecting the best of conditions. Nevertheless, it was clean, people are friendly, with a great location and view to skye bridge, in the lovely place of Kyleakin.
Loved the old fashioned look of the hotel, staff were brilliant, food was amazing and pints were cheap Great location
Staff were friendly. Facilities were good: small kitchen with most things you need and a relaxed common area. Great shared bathrooms. Not really any atmosphere in the hostel itself, but a decent place to base yourself in Inverness if not looking to meet people. Bathrooms were large, incredibly clean and had good lighting - probably one of the best hostel bathrooms I've stayed at in a while. Great location - very central.
Excellent base for exploring the Northern Highlands. Excellent value for money. At this price in this location the only cheaper options are hostel or bunkhouse dormitory beds. Very friendly reception staff at check in and check out. For sure the room looked a bit dated but it was warm, comfortable and everything worked fine - couldn't ask for more at £40 a night.
