My daughter loved the family room with a bunk bed. The sleeping bag experience provided a laugh. The shared kitchen was very good, with everything you could imagine. Walking around the area, we even saw a deer. Great location. We also tried the restaurant and really liked it.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. The location is just perfect (if you like remote, rural places), it's not only right on the banks of Loch Ness, it's also very close to a hiking trail. The atmosphere is just brilliant, there are various activities every evening, like a bonfire (with music and singing), beer pong, pub quiz and other fun things. I'm a bit gutted I couldn't go for a dip in the loch, but will make sure next time I do. Because of the remote location and the activities, you easily get to know other travellers, it's got to be one of the best places to make friends. You can buy food and drinks at the reception, so even without "going back to civilisation" you can easily survive here. The breakfast is basic, but very good. The staff - most of them were volunteers - was excellent. The whole place was spotless, every one was very friendly and helpful, and you could just tell that they loved to be there. This hostel has a heart and soul like few others. It is not only great value for money, it is also great value for your time.
