Bushmills Hostel is situated in Bushmills, within 3.9 km of Dunluce Castle and 8 km of Royal Portrush Golf Course. The property is set 3.3 km from Giants Causeway, 3.3 km from Giants Causeway visitors centre and 3.4 km from Hezlett House. The property is non-smoking and is located 3 km from Bushfoot Beach. I’m writing this review during my stay at the Bushmills Hostel, and I have to say—it’s even more impressive and spacious than the photographs suggest. The entire place is spotlessly clean, which immediately made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The reception area is warm and welcoming, with a cosy sofa and a tartan carpet that gives a lovely nod to its Scottish heritage. There are lots of board games available for families or groups, and you can even order pizza and other items from The Townhouse restaurant next door. Inside the hostel, there’s a large dining area and a well-equipped kitchen, complete with a big fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, and hot plates. Everything was very clean and user-friendly. There’s also a lovely walled courtyard with several picnic tables where you can sit and eat outside—perfect on a sunny day. I stayed in the female-only dorm, which was much more spacious than expected—it even had stairs leading up to a loft with two extra beds, making it feel private and comfortable. The showers were hot and pleasant, and once again, everything was spotless. The location is ideal—just step outside and the Co-Op is to your left, with Centra on the opposite side of the road. I had supper from “Flash in the Pan” and it was excellent. If you’re a cyclist or enjoy walking, this is the perfect base. You can hire a bike if you don’t have one and follow the Bushmills–Causeway railway path. Head east to the Giant’s Causeway or west to Portballintrae, which is perfect for paddleboarding and swimming. The Causeway Rambler bus also stops right at the nearby war memorial, so getting around is easy even without a car. One evening, I nipped out to the Bushmills Inn bar and it was a real treat—live music was playing, and the atmosphere was brilliant. Tourists were dancing and clapping along to songs by Snow Patrol and traditional tunes like “Whiskey in the Jar.” A great vibe, and I had no trouble letting myself back into the hostel afterwards. The staff a
