This was the first place I stayed at when I arrived in Jordan and I immediately felt at home. Anas gave me such a warm welcome and has helped me plan the rest of my travels through Jordan. Also, he gives great tours in Aqaba (for free!). The house feels more like a guesthouse rather than a hostel. It will really make you feel right at home. I’d highly recommend anyone who comes to Aqaba to stay with Anas for at least 2 nights and get to experience the best of Jordan hospitality! PS check out the colored wall with all the positive words from previous guests written in their own language, it’s adorable!

Since I had overstay comment would be same as before. I enjoyed sightseeing of Aqaba and had much of swimming. Sea-water is warm enough, while outside is hot even at start of April. Location is good since 1st stores you pass to the Downtown are much cheaper, so i bought water, coffee etc and continue to downtown or beach. One ice cream was 10 piastels (around 13 cents Euro), for 1 EUR you got bag of ice cream. Half liter water - 0.25 JD. In downtown price is 3× - 4×.

The owner is kind and helpful without being intrusive, which we really appreciated. Compared to other options in the area, Oryx Hostel offers great value and a calm, welcoming atmosphere. On arrival the staff are extremely friendly, helping with bags, making sure you are settled in. Rushdi met us on arrival and was so helpful and easy to communicate with. He recommended a scuba tour and having never scuba dived before it was the perfect place to do it, and with a great price. He organised our transport to and from scuba and also our transport to the border when we were leaving. We asked for breakfast to be included every morning and this was no problem and we enjoyed breakfast down on the water. I mentioned to Rushdi I loved animals and he let me go with him to feed the street cats.. it was so nice. The place is very clean and the staff are very respectful.
