Piece Hostel Sanjo offers private and dormitory rooms in the heart of Kyoto. Everything about this posh hostel was wonderful. Absolutely loved the staff,the jazz bands,the AMAZING rooftop,shared spaces, kitchen, and library. Stayed in a private room. Would definitely return and have already recommended to a few friends.

More traditional home style which I preferred. Toru was very nice, helpful, and informative. I liked the nice shared common space that made a communal feeling even though you had a private room. I slept very well!

A 5-minute walk from Higashiyama Subway Station, Guest House Ga-Jyun features free Wi-Fi at the entire property. The wooden terrace has chairs overlooking the garden. We are small house with 5 rooms. The house itself was my favourite! Such a beautiful layout, zen garden and great common areas that are very welcoming to use. The dorm room (at least mine) felt very considered with proper wooden stairs to the top bunks rather than ladders - something that I appreciate for a late night visit to the toilet or for those that have had a late night drinking.

A 15-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Shrine, Guest House Gojo offers simple and cosy Japanese-style dormitory accommodation with free Wi-fi, futon beds and shared bathrooms. Great traditional house with futon style bed for the dorms! There is enough toilets and bath for everyone. The staff are great and speaks excellent English as well. Lockers provided.

I recently stayed 10 days at SHIN and all I can say is I was blown away by the host’s (Shin) hospitality and attention to detail. From the moment I checked in, to the moment I checked out, along with local delivery of a forgotten item, Shin had taken care of everything. The room I stayed in (bunk room) was a good size for one or two lightly packed travellers. All shared spaces were well maintained and kept spotless. Getting around is very convenient, with a JR train station 3-5 mins away, and also the city bus stop right in front of the hotel. Only thing to note, is that the stairs are a bit steep, so something to consider for those that may have difficulty getting up or down.
