The Ocean is right across the street in 1min. walking distance and Susami is surrounded by beautiful hiking / pilgrimage trails, waterfalls and other small coastal towns that offer a variety of unique sightseeing spots or activites (you can find all information in the local tourism centre). Although the hostel is located near the street you dont get bothered by the car noises (there are hardly any cars passing by after 6pm). I came during november where there were only 2 other travelers besides me. While the other travelers passed by on a pilgrimage i stayed in susami and had a great time with sosuke, the super friendly and helpful hostel host, who sometimes invited his friends over and let me participate in their talks around the campfire or other local activities. Anakashico hostel and the entire South of Wakayama area is a place where i definately want to return to and continue to explore more of japans beautiful nature and slow and peaceful country side.

All units in the hostel are equipped with a TV. All rooms come with a private bathroom with a bidet, a hairdryer and slippers. The units at Albany inn Shirahama アルバニーイン白浜 feature air conditioning and a desk. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable. The well equipped shared kitchen is spacious and offers a large fridge with freezer as well as a table for having dinner with four people. We would definitely come back. It is only a short drive to the zoo and other activities as well as shirahama beach and the beautiful coastline.

The room and bed is very warm in winter, maybe a bit too warm.

It reminded me of some of the best hostels on my Camino. It also had a great social atmosphere and I met several interesting people doing the Kumano Kodo. Highly recommended!
