I stayed here at the beginning and end of my trip. Everything is comfortable. Spacious bathroom, hot shower, good food, friendly staff, especially Jessica who helped me learn to ride a scooter.

Super cozy hostel on a quiet street right off the main road, 2 minute walk to the beach and next to all the restaurants! The owner / managers were super friendly and extremely helpful I was able to hangout in the common area with beanbags with a cute pup until my 23:00 flight departure. Refillable drinking water, great AC, comfortable beds and kitchen to use if needed. Great spot before heading to the airport (tuktuk is only 800 and 30min drive)

I have been traveling in Sri Lanka for a month and I have been in all kinds of hostels, hotels and guesthouses and let me tell you that Hostel Katunayake is the best of the best. I took a bed is shared room of 4 beds the environment was really great, quiet, the ac is working along with the fan, the room and the bed were clean. The breakfast was delicious and tasty and the kitchen lady is super friendly and nice although she doesn’t know English but she tries her best to make sure that you satisfied with the food, coffee and tea, she’s just a wonderful person. Along with the office staff are amazingly helpful and very friendly they allowed me to stay in the guest lobby for 12 hours because my flight got cancelled and I had to change the flight, normally they would charge for that but let’s just say I’m lucky and they are wonderful people, oh yeah maybe because I helped one of the guys to find his phone because he kinda lost his phone. Plus the hostel is really near the airport it’s just 15 minutes maximum away, and they can arrange transportation anytime with good prices. Anyway I would recommend anyone for Hostel Katunayake. Hopefully I would see you all there.
