Everything was like in the pictures and even better. the staff is super nice and welcoming. The facilities are so pretty that at some point you doubt that it is a hostel - it could be a hotel! Everything was so clean, the staff does cleaning more than once a day in public areas. Showers and toilets are the prettiest ever. And that is one of the few hostels in this country that offers basic things for cooking for backpackers - there was coffee, tea, sugar etc, cooking oil and even milk (also dairy free) for communal use. Other hostels should learn from The Marion how to do a proper hostel!

I had a car so I was spoiled. popped into 2 different town areas for meals, drinks, shopping—the beach was 170 steps down a cement pathway through a lush garden with birds singing! I’d absolutely go back.

Taupo is 40 km from the hostel. Very well set up - rooms tucked away from main living and kitchen ! Kitchen was very well appointed. Sandra, our host was very responsive , friendly and helpful. Wish we would have had more time to stay!
