Located around 1.6 km from Greymouth Railway Station, the hostel is also 43 km away from Punakaiki Scenic Attraction. The accommodation features a shared kitchen and free WiFi. Writing as a part time wheelchair user and walking stick user. This feels like a home and a group of people just enjoying each other's company. As a smaller hostel, the family running it do a fantastic job. Lots of travellers come back here and I can see why. You feel at home and like you are very welcome to come back. Very colourful and clean. Staff and guests were very friendly and the free shuttle service from the station was a game changer for me. I came as a last minute thing and informed the team of what I might benifet from. Jacinda wrote back derailing exactly the steps and ramps and what might be tricky for me so I could navigate it and work it out. Making access is really clear for me. Thank you would love to stay again! Beds so comfy and clean really nice vibe of the whole place.

In addition to the Spotless rooms … I cannot give a high enough rating for Craig’s cooking. Our meal was one of the best anywhere we’ve eaten in NZ. All fresh veggies from garden. Very nice little hotel. Perfect for solo travellers on a budget, especially backpackers, who want a break from back to back hosteling.. Rooms were cosy, bed was comfy as was the wood burner in the lounge. Friendly staff who were very welcoming.
I was only staying for one night so was one of the cheapest places i could find in Queenstown and it was still pricey for a dorm room. However, the location is great and its a big hostel, so lots going on - great if you’re up for meeting new people or want a mix of activities. My dorm had its own bathroom which was handy and great that the toilet and shower room were separate.
The hostel had a lovely, laidback vibe. It was in a great location, a short walk into the Centre of Kaikoura. All the staff I met were friendly and welcoming. The garden area was lovely, and it has a beautiful terrace with sea views. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the free ground coffee was a really nice touch. The washing machine was cheap at 2 dollars, and you could use the washing line outside to dry your things.
I’ve been visiting Global Village for years and it has maintained its reputation and high standards probably the best hostel in NZ Very chill atmosphere good facilities clean and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen, clean room and bathroom plenty of safe parking Highly recommended
Stunning spot, so nicely done and beautiful surroundings. Caters to all budgets! The 4 bed dorm has tea&coffee and TV and the best hostel kitchen I've ever seen! You must stay here!
Great location, probably the best hostel we stayed in during our trip in NZ …. Amazing freshly baked cheese scones for breakfast
We had a lovely stay. As a backpacker / hostel style place we were really pleasantly surprised by how lovely our private double room was - it felt like an upscale hotel room! We had a fantastic view of the lake whilst the room itself was incredibly spacious. It's also a great location, right in the centre and within easy walking distance of all the town's amenities.
Cheap hostel. Curtains on your bunk bed in a 6 bed dorm room. Close to city centre. Close to gondola and harbour. A common room with big sofa's, 3 small kitchen, reasonably clean. Friendly staff. Small closet with space under beds to store your bags. You need to bring your own padlock. Clean bedlinnen. Cleaning is done every day by the girls working at the reception. Electronic door keys. Close by to sky field and other attractions.
Nice & warmly backpacker💜 We booked bunk bed without bedding due with bedding need to spent extra few dollar. After arrival, the staff of the hostel knew that we don’t have own bedding, she automatically provide us sleeping bag as she told the day very cold and we might need it for well sleep. The small action made me very touching. Strong recommended to those would like to stay overnight at Picton 👍
