It feels more like a homestay, rather than a hostel. The owner remembers everyone's names. I have stayed here two times and she remembered me. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast included, with many different teas, coffee, etc. Washing machine and dryer too.

In addition to the Spotless rooms … I cannot give a high enough rating for Craig’s cooking. Our meal was one of the best anywhere we’ve eaten in NZ. All fresh veggies from garden. Salad had little blue edible flowers! Not only beautiful, but tasty huge portions!

Set in park-like grounds on the shores of Lake Te Anau, 5 minutes' walk from the town centre, Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers has both mountain and lake views from the majority of the rooms. We loved staying in our glamping tent for the night! It was super clean and comfortable in there. The showers and bathrooms were also very clean.

All the facilities worked as they should. A very cozy, retro property that has plenty of charm. We really enjoyed our stay here, and Nathan was extremely friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this place.
