Stayed one night and it was recently redone and very comfortable. The community spaces felt like a comfortable home. Gerard and Vicki were friendly, kind, helpful, I can’t say enough good things about them. I needed to do laundry ($10 to wash and dry) and Vicky brought it up to me when it was done. One thing needed more drying and she graciously put it back in the dryer and brought it up to me again. Would have loved to stay longer and explore the beautiful Arthur’s Pass area.

Wild Kea Lodge Franz Josef offers a modern accommodation across three wings in the Franz Josef Glacier Village, just a10-minute drive from Franz Josef Glacier and 30-40 minutes for Fox Glacier. The staff is extremely helpful, the lodge offers lots of complementary services (popcorn, soup, bikes) and the location is perfect even if, like me, you don't have a car.

Ivorytowers Accommodation is situated opposite Westland National Park rainforest and mountains, just a 4-minute walk from Fox Glacier Village. The room and kitchen are spacious and the owner has a very cute dog. Three minutes walk to the firefly trail. Because of my negligence I forgot my stuff in the backpacker, after contacting the owner he sent it to me, thank you very much for this backpacker!

Glow Worm Accommodation is located in the center of Franz Josef and offers a range of shared dormitory rooms and private en suite rooms. Free unlimited WiFi is included. Great place with a cheerful, friendly staff! They do everything to make you feel at home by offering free breakfast & SO NICE… homemade soup for supper, also free! There is also popcorn & a popping machine at your disposal, still free! Big clean kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Towels are changed regularly!
