It was a quick trip for me to get my bike fixed. I had a booking in the afternoon and went there directly. When I book a hostel, I always look for a bed with a curtain because I need privacy when I sleep. The bunk bed is comfy! The room size matches the number of guests (maximum 6 people). There is an ensuite bathroom in the dorm, but there’s also a central bathroom as well. It’s really clean! One thing I love the most is how functional the central bathroom is — there are two hangers and a shelf for my belongings. This is always a problem in some hostels because I never know where to put my clothes, towel, and shower set. The staff are really nice; she explained all the areas to me. The kitchen is clean too. I think it was almost full because I went on a weekend, but it wasn’t chaotic like many other places. If I have a solo trip to Taupo, I will definitely book this hostel again.

We were not as young as most of the guests there and we felt wonderful surrounded by them and lovely staff, who are mainly young people working temporary to fund traveling in New Zealand. No fuss, a simple that offers precisely what one needs and encourages you to spend majority of time outdoors, as one should when in New Zealand. We booked a room with private bathroom.

Haka House Taupō is a vibrant hostel in central Taupō, located just moments away from the breathtaking Lake Taupō! Well facilitated and clean, spacious shared kitchen which is joint with a wonderful view terrace, the laundry room is on first floor. My room is cozy and comfy with a convenient lay-out of private bathroom. Nice staff and location. Great choice for solo travellers.
