The facilities are very clean and well-maintained. While it's clearly meant to be a hostel, the common areas are also rather stylish and pleasant to be in, with books to read and board games to pass the time. The organization and is also great, with clear instructions next to appliances and such. The owner and staff are very kind and full of information about the local area, and there are also plenty of maps and other reading material about local events available in the common area. The area around the hostel has a few bakeries and shops, and there's a few bus stations near that take you to the center of town, as well as a train station (note - the google maps location of the train station isn't quite right! It's actually under where the buses turn around). Other than the occasional train and minor noise coming from a nearby workshop, the area is very quiet. Every bed has an assigned place on the food shelf in the kitchen, and a locker with a key inside the rooms. The mattresses are comfortable and there's a privacy curtain on the beds, as well as a reading light. You can also turn off the main room light from your bed.

The rooms are good, clean and the kitchen is very good

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, Youth Hostel Proteus Postojna is situated in Postojna, 900 metres from Karst Museum Postojna. Free private parking is available on site. Stayed 1 night. It was very clean, very friendly personell, warm and comfy. Great location and free parking. I would stay there again :)

The staff is really friendly and approachable, they even gave us a discount for the nearby caves. Totally recommend the hostel!

Me and my family of seven stayed one night. It was just what we needed to rest after a long journey. We really liked the cleanliness of the hostel. Good-natured hostess. It was great that there was a washing machine and everything we needed in the kitchen.
