You'll receive the "Dachbod'n" in different sizes depending on the number of persons you book (please see the floor plans in the photos!). If you book for 1-2 people (not always available!), you'll use the bed on the living gallery and the bathroom with shower, toilet, and washing machine (= 70m²). If you book for 3-5 people, you'll have a second bathroom with a bathtub and a bedroom with a double and a single bed (= 103m²). For 6 or more people, you'll have access to the entire unit (= 153m²). This way, you only pay for what you really need. Please note that the statutory tourist tax of EUR 2.50/night for guests >15 years will be collected in cash upon check-out and is not included in the price. The spacious rooms are connected to the history of the house, which was built in 1910 as a new school on the centuries-old foundations of an order's outpost, directly next to the spring tunnel that still feeds the well today and gave the "Quellhütte" its name. The "Dachbod'n" was originally the gymnasium. The house is a solid timber-frame structure with large rooms over 3 meters high, partially covered with shingles on the outside, and plastered inside in the old Viennese tradition. The wild mix of hunting lodge and bourgeois villa creates the special charm of this "Old Lady" among Weichselboden's buildings.

I first discovered and fell in love with the Salza Valley through whitewater paddling in the 1980s, and instinctively knew that I would live here one day. And so it happened – and I'm delighted to be able to share this joy of the wild and beautiful nature with my guests and fellow residents at the Quellhütte. You come here to stay longer. Some "Friends of the Quellhütte" regularly use the house to bring together small groups of like-minded people or those interested in a specific topic over several days. Living, cooking, eating, and sleeping together creates a sense of familiarity between the participants that is difficult to achieve in traditional accommodations. If needed, the former classroom is also available as a practice or event space.

Weichselboden lies in a magical valley at the foot of the Hochschwab mountain range, directly on the Salza River and at the mouth of what is arguably the most remote and picturesque gorge in the Salza: the "Klausgraben." Thanks to the Vienna High Spring Water Pipeline, nature conservation has been an unwavering priority in this region for over a century. Hardly anywhere else in Austria will you be able to discover such pristine nature up close.
