Alloway Bank combines the best of history and rural life, just a 7 km drive from Bathurst CBD, on a quiet 40-acre grazing property with expansive views over gently undulating farmland. It's a great place to relax, enjoy the quiet surroundings and to breathe the country air. Alloway Bank was a 2000-acre grant to Captain John Piper in 1822. The grooms’ quarters attached to the 1829 stables have been transformed into a comfortable, contemporary two-bedroom cottage that sleeps 4 adults, with lounge, bathroom, kitchen and sunny deck with ramp access.
Jenny and John bought Alloway Bank in 2019 when it came up for sale, as the homestead was built in 1872 for John's great great grandparents William Henry and Charlotte Suttor. Jenny and her friends keep horses here and ride on the dressage arena.
Bathurst has a university, historic buildings, museums, a variety of good restaurants and take-aways. Villages nearby are worth a visit for their history and landscape, and some have good places to eat.
