The Bower's Hideout has a bower bird theme and is a cosy stay right in downtown Kandos. Most of our guests use our accommodation as a base to explore the region during the day yet have all the convenience of being in the township of Kandos and being able to step out to the local cafes and restaurants in both Kandos and Rylstone (Kandos’s sister town just 7 kilometres away) With a panoramic view of the Comber Melon Mountain from your accommodation you feel compelled to get out and explore this region and there are plenty of opportunities to fill your day depending on your interest. For those wanting a bit of active adventure head out to Ganguddy Reserve within the Wollemi NP just 30 kilometers away with some authentic rural Australian landscapes on the way. There is also two fine award winning local wineries, De Beaurepaire and Naked Lady, the award winning Rylstone Olive Press, the great pub food and excellent ambience at the Globe Hotel Rylstone and the array of cafes, bakers and others in this historic town, wonder through the charity shops and particularly the Community Charity Shop in Kandos and meet a few of the locals who love this store.

Head out for a drive to Glen Davis and be amazed at the escarpments and panoramic views along the edge of the Wollemi NP then discover a slice of Australian history in the town build with huge ambition as a nation building enterprise to produce shale oil but almost immediately abandoned due to discovery of rich reserves of crude oil in other parts of the globe. Then there is also the food and wine delights of the Mudgee region and you could easily spend a full day exploring the wineries, the Mudgee Micro Brewery, the cosy cafes and other attractions in this region without barely scratching the surface.

At the Bower we also provide cycle and kayak packages to provide more options for our guests. If you are an active couple how about taking off on one of our tandem bikes along the dedicated cycleway between Kandos and Rylstone (7 k’s), stop for lunch in town (or order a picnic hamper) and then meander back. The beauty of the cycleway is you are not dealing with traffic so you can have a more leisurely ride, take stops along the way for rests and photos and perhaps detour to Naked Lady Wines just on the edge of the cycleway. Our Kayak packages can get you out on the water at Ganguddy which, in my humble opinion, is the best way to see this area. Our studio style bungalow has a fully equipped kitchenette and en suite bathroom. It is warm and cosy in winter and cool in summer. Many of our guests are happy to disconnect from the digital world while on a break but if you need connection we have broadband wifi and are connected to Netflix and a number of steamed international tv channels.
