Ella's was built in 1902 and has passed from father to daughter until her death then to Karyl and Henry who restored Ella's and then to us. The whole history of the house can be found all around the house and in the book be have made up for the guests to enjoy. It has mostly stayed in the era in which it was build and we have tried to maintain the history. Ella's is more than just a stay in a hotel. It is a warm and welcoming home which the guests have loved. It is an experience not just a bed for the night. You can explore the house and yard with lots of history to be found everywhere or just relax under the arbour out the back. It is fully equipped with everything you will need and then some.
This is Kim and mine's first home that we have welcomed guests into. We started going to Broken Hill for holidays about 7 years ago and just fell in love with the place. We have decided that is where we want to live. We seen Ella's for sale on the web and fell in love with it. I took my family out there for a holiday and we all decided that it was a great house. It had a great feel and we immediately felt at home. I went to see the real estate agent the next day and said we would like to buy it. With the bank saying yes and meeting Karyl and Henry it all fell into place like it was meant to be. We still live in Sydney at present until the youngest has finished school then we will be out there. This is my first time hosting and I love it. I love interacting with the guests and love all the positive feedback and tales of their stay. At this stage Ella's will continue to be holiday accommodation as it would be a shame not to share her with all the guests that travel through.
Ella's is about 2km from the centre of town. There is local shops and a garage at the end of the street and a supermarket and shops 2 blocks over. Ella's is set in a very quiet lane way so you get a good nights sleep. Nothing in Broken Hill is very far away and Silverton is 23km. There are loads of galleries and cafes around town. You will be surprised just how much there is to do here.
