Situated 1km from the picturesque village of Aldgate in the Adelaide Hills, Hoopers Cottage is a 1960s cottage that has been lovingly restored in keeping with the era. The cottage consists of two double bedrooms, a good sized living area and a fully equipped country kitchen with upright electric stove, fridge and microwave. The bathroom is original and guests are advised that the shower is over the bath. The property has free Wi-Fi, split system air conditioning as well as garden views and parking on site. Bed linen and towels are provided. Aldgate has many beautiful walks and is close to sections of the Heysen Trail and the Pioneer Women’s Trail. The beautiful Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens are 7.5km from the cottage. Hoopers Cottage is also within easy driving distance of the popular historic township of Hahndorf and many beautiful Adelaide Hills wineries, cafes and restaurants.

Philip and Cathy have had a wonderful time renovating Hoopers Cottage so that visitors can experience the feel of the 1960s with a few mod cons. Much of the furniture is original or has been found by searching online or at second hand shops. We are keen to share our lovely cottage and the peaceful garden that surrounds it with guests.

Aldgate is a lovely, leafy Adelaide Hills town. Our cottage is 1km from the village of Aldgate with a paved walking path connecting all the way to the village. Aldgate has some lovely cafes serving great coffee, a Japanese restaurant, pizza bar and a local hotel, as well as a supermarket. There is also a gift/clothing shop and a home decor shop for those who enjoy some leisurely browsing so you have everything you need close at hand for a relaxing weekend. If you would like to venture further afield, the picturesque town of Stirling is only 3 kms away offering more cafes, supermarkets, a popular monthly market and a wider variety of shopping. The historic town of Hahndorf is a 12 minute drive away and the Adelaide Hills also has a number of popular wineries. Cleland Wildlife Park, Mt Lofty Summit and the beautiful Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens are all within 15 minutes by car. There is a regular bus service to the city of Adelaide that leaves from the main street of Aldgate.
