This magic church like schoolhouse is a self-contained one bed one bathroom apartment attached to the schoolmaster's residence (where we live). Its close proximity to many wineries and 5kms to Hahndorf and the well known Stanley Bridge Tavern and Fourth Hill Providore. With separate entry and full and exclusive use of the schoolhouse you will have a kitchen, dining, lounge and mezzanine containing a cozy bedroom (queen bed) with bathroom to enjoy. The Living area (Kitchen, dining, lounge area) has a double door wood fire heater (May to September) and reverse cycle air conditioning. The Queen bed in the bedroom has an electric blanket (May to September). The bathroom has underfloor heating, a claw foot bath (bubble bath and bath crystals provided for use while staying at the school) and huge shower large enough for party - say past guests! (Shampoo and Conditioner and Body wash provided for use while staying at the school). Please note 1. The listing photos show there are stairs to the bedroom and bathroom and thus this property is not suitable for people with mobility issues or children/pets. You may wish to bring two small bags rather than one large one. There is high speed internet but we intentionally have no TV. All the better to relax an unwind! All the windows (including the historic 9 gothic windows) have double glazing and are fitted with blinds for your privacy. Charlie and Mon have lovingly restored the 1858 school and nursed it back from crumbling to comfortable home under the watchful eye of caneras filming for Restoration Australia (series 7 on the ABC). They enjoy travelling and always explore the local areas checking out its history and enjoying local wines and cuisine. They are loving their new /old home in the Adelaide Hills and can't wait to share it with you.

Balhannah is far enough away from the tourist track of Hanhndorf (a short 5 minute drive) but close enough to wineries (Shaw and Smith, The Lane, Nepenthe just to name a few all less than 3kms away) and distilleries (Route 9 a short walk away and Ambleside in Hahndorf). Balhannah Pub, Kloses supermarket, Balhannah Bakery, Butcher, and gift shop Field trip a short 2 minute walk. Also notable - Melbas chocolate factory, Beerenburg are close by.
