Canto dos Pássaros apartment is ideally situated for access to the Itatiaia National Park just 7.5km away and the Finnish Museum in picturesque Penedo only 13km away. In fact, with access to the Dutra highway a couple of minutes from the apartment, driving to Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo couldn't be more straightforward. Birdwatchers will be delighted with the range of birdlife visible from the apartment, from large raptors and cave-nesting insect-catchers, to waterfowl crossing from river to wetland areas. Visitors love the National Park and the stunning waterfalls and walks, perfect to cool off on a hot day. The Ribeirão (riverside) on the way up to the National Park is a favourite shady picnic spot with locals. For flatter, accessible walks, taking a walk down to the Rio Paraíba is a lovely alternative to a hike. Keep your eye out for toucans and capybaras! A short hop will take you to Penedo, which attracts national and international visitors! Don't miss the chance to try the exquisite, hand-selected local coffees in our friend Anderson's coffee roastery and cafe, Andicarô Torrefadores de Cafés Exclusivos and walk the vibrant streets of 'Little Finland' for a taste of Finland in the heart of Brazil.
