Breakfast was outstanding. We were served a delicious crepe and the service was excellent. The description given for the breakfast location, however was incorrect and we spent some time hunting for this.

The breakfast was wonderful! Enjoyed this very much. I loved having a balcony as an extra space for relaxation. The room itself was spacious and the bed comfortable. I was very impressed with the water pressure in our bathroom’s shower!

We stayed in the Fortressview Room (entire 3rd floor) which was very spacious, fantastic views and a great place to spend the night. We highly recommend this if looking for a comfortable stay in a very spacious and clean room.

This is a beautiful, big, and well built old house. It is not pretentious in any way yet it has a "stately" feel perhaps because it functioned as a clergy residence for almost 100 years. It has lots of balconies and verandas to relax on. There is a shared kitchen for snack making, having tea and coffee (no cooking please) and a large fridge to hold any bites that you may be carrying along. This self-serve feature is popular with guests. This is particularly convenient for 2-3 couples traveling together enabling them to gather in the sitting room or the 2nd floor large balcony for a glass of wine before dinner. Its history: The first resident was Archdeacon Thomas Draper had the house built a couple of years after he was ordered by the Halifax bishop of the Anglican church to report for duty in Louisbourg. That job lasted exactly 50 years. Rev. Draper was a strong proponent in community affairs of the town including the recognition of the Fortress site as being the treasured piece of history that it is today. Many priests and their families lived in this house over the years and we have named the rooms after some of them.
I was born and raised quite some time ago in Louisbourg and after a period "away" returned acquiring this house in 2001. We renovated it completely resulting in 6 guest rooms. We did a similar conversion (1995) of its sister property and former family home, the Louisbourg Harbour Inn. I reside in the Harbour Inn which practically across the street. Recently we have adopted a self-check-in for the most part which allows both myself and my guests flexibility to carry on their respective activities. I know lots about the history of the town, the Fortress and the fishery having worked in each and I am happy to share anything I know with guests if asked. My ancestor (Bagnell) was a British soldier during the last siege of the Fortress in 1758 . All other ancestors came to Cape Breton in the 1820's from North Uist, Scotland
As a B&B that best thing about Heritage House, next to it's comfort, is ideal location in the small town of Louisbourg. It is close to everything there is to offer a visitor. Heritage House itself is very quiet and relaxing with a big lawn and views of the harbour from various parts of the building. Restaurants are literally across the street. The Louisbourg Playhouse is a 3-minute stroll as is the community fishing wharf. One of Nova Scotia's most striking and historically significant, the Louisbourg Lighthouse with it's most picturesque walking trails is a 4-minute drive from your accommodation. The Old Town Trail is a walking path along the harbour shore overlooking the Fortress a 2 minute drive in the other direction.
