Welcome to JO's Farmstay, your island home away from home. Our 3 family friendly cottages are perfect for a relaxing & quiet holiday just far enough from the busy touristic places. The 2 BR Family cottage has 2 adjoined Bedrooms, perfect for children. The island is only 32km round, nothing is really far away. All cottages have fully screened windows to keep the bugs out, generously sized outdoor sitting areas incl BBQ & provide all you need for your holiday. Families with small children love our place because of its safe environment and the entertainment offered by goats and chicken. Couples love the place for its privacy, peace and quietness. The next bus stop is just 300m away on the main road, next to the Supermarket "KAPS". We provide a delicious full daily breakfast, serving local fruits, home baked bread and fresh eggs from our own chicken. We can cater for special dietary requirements. We even have a small dinner menu if you don't feel like cooking or going out. Bicycles are available, a bit rusty, but working. We are happy to assist with bookings, advice and even transport when needed. Airport transfer can be arranged on request.

I am Joey. I was born and grew up on Rarotonga, so I can tell you a lot about my island, what to do, where to go and where to find the "hidden gems" of the island. I love my island and enjoy telling its stories to our guests. I learned how to farm from my dad when I was a kid. I, my wife, and my Mama are looking forward to meeting you.

Matavera is a rural village, traditionally occupied by farming families. There are not so many tourist accommodations here, so you will feel a little bit like a local when you are here. It's a very safe place, and mostly quiet, apart from the "song of the roosters" and the occasional tractor. The ocean is only 300m away, so will sleep with the sound of the waves crashing on the reef. The coral reef that surrounds our island comes very close to the shore in Matavera, so the beach is quite rocky and very good to explore some of the creatures of the sea. The next swimming beach, our famous Muri Beach, is only 2km away. You can actually walk there, using the back road, or use the bicycles or the hourly local bus. We recommend renting a scooter or car to be more flexible in exploring our beautiful island.
