We are an American/Costa Rican family living here in paradise with our two daughters and our dogs. We love surf, art, wellness, gastronomy and to travel. We also love to meet people from around the world and show them a good time the real, local way.

At Hotel Balu, we offer seven independent apartments secluded within a gorgeous tropical garden, inside the guarded and gated community of Tierra Pacifica. All of our accommodations are fully equipped and feature a private bathroom, kitchen and patio with gorgeous views of the garden, yoga shala, and/or pool. Our pool was inspired by the natural hot springs of Costa Rica and is truly a work of art. It features mesmerizing turquoise waters, a relaxing waterfall massage, secret caves with real Kundalini crystals, a relaxing patio with a panoramic view of the property, and a secondary heated pool, all connected by an incredible water slide! Next to this oasis is our ice bath, yoga shala, and dining space for 32 people. You will also have full access to Tierra Pacifica's amenity center, Club Arbol. It features a beautiful three-tier infinity pool and outdoor space centered around large majestic trees and colorful flora. The club also offers a full-size tennis and pickleball court, an indoor gym, an indoor studio, office space with high-speed internet, and private bathrooms with hot showers.

We are only one mile from the beautiful black sand beach of Playa Junquillal, which is just a short walk or an even shorter bike ride away. The area is private and peaceful while still being very close to many local amenities, such as various grocery stores, several amazing restaurants, and the beaches of Playa Negra, Blanca, and Playa Avellanas. Getting here is easy as we are located only one hour away from the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport in Liberia, with paved roads the entire way.
