This is your own mini-house- standalone, elevated off the ground so you can leave windows open while maintaining privacy! You enter the house through the screened porch which also serves as the living space with an outdoor furniture set. No TV here- there are birds and critters to observe in the trees, and the great outdoors to enjoy! The huge glass sliding doors open up to allow plenty of ventilation which, combined with the ceiling fans keeps you relatively cool, for most of the year. If you prefer, there's AC. The casita has one main room, with a queen bed, closet, kitchen and all the utensils you need for preparing healthy meals. The kitchen has an electric 2 burner cooktop, a toaster oven, a high-powered blender, french press or coffee maker, mixing bowls for salads, etc, and all the utensils you need to make your own simple and healthy meals at home. The fridge is a full-sized fridge with a freezer. Next to this, there is an ample pantry where you can store your food. Water- no need to buy bottles- ours is filtered, sediment and UV and we have a Berkey countertop filter too. Close to pickleball and surf. On the property, we have sugar cane you can juice, cacao trees to try the fruit, all kinds of plantains and citrus. It is a delightful property that is maintained with a full-time gardener. Chickens roam around and provide eggs, and we get regular visits from toucans, macaws and oropendulas.

We love seeing guests enjoying the area, connecting with nature, the gardens and the community. We love meeting travelers (this place is not touristy!) as it is a special kind of visitor who falls in love with this more remote and authentic vibe of Costa Rica. We love to surf, play pickleball, relax and have family time. We don't party - early to bed, earlyish to rise! Our dogs live with us, and are kept inside for the most part. They are friendly to visitors, but they have astute powers for detecting trouble :) Corynne is a massage therapist of 25 years, now coaches and trains massage therapists as well as seeing clients. Ian is an all-round handy-man, surfer, and water-lover. Finn is our son, 17 who loves fishing and can't wait to take people out on either his little inflatable Avon to catch rooster off the close reefs or on our 24ft Boston whaler for an offshore fishing day!

We are in the town of Cocal Amarillo, which actually doesn't show up on maps.... closest to Puerto Pilon, we walk to the beach which is around 300 meters as the crow flies. Through a cow field and a short jungle stroll- to an empty beach and a reeling left hand point break dreams are made of. The local community are mostly local Costa Ricans, country folk, who value community activities and connections, and love it when visitors get involved in learning local customs, attending local events and try to speak some Spanish! Finca Cacao spans 5 acres, and on the south side by the road, we offer 2 covered pickleball courts where eager players come together and hone their game. Guests are welcome to join in. Across the road, La Choza de Gaby is a great local restaurant with excellent vibe. You will meet Rudy and Gaby no doubt. Down the street we have Don Olman's restaurant and he bakes sourdough bread fresh daily... 3000 colones a loaf and excellent for the taste buds! 300 meters to the north is a small but very well equipped supermarket called the SuMary.
