You can wonderfully "experience" the region along well-developed bike paths by the Saar, Mosel, Ruwer, and Sauer rivers, from the famous Saarschleife in Mettlach to Trier, the oldest city in Germany with its many attractions. There is also plenty to offer for hiking enthusiasts, such as the Moselsteig with its dream loops and side trails. The entry point to the side trail Saar-Leuktal-Panorama is just a few meters from Haus Poldi. A visit to the nearby small town of Saarburg, with its unique waterfall in the middle of the town and the well-preserved castle ruin, is worthwhile at any time of the year.
