The village is known for its thatched Frisian houses, which blend harmoniously into the landscape. The surroundings are characterized by dune landscapes, long sandy beaches, and the Wadden Sea, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The List harbor is a central point of the village, offering a maritime atmosphere with seafood restaurants where fresh oysters and freshly caught fish are served.
