My name is María, and I am the founder of Canarirural. More than seventeen years ago, I started this project in a very personal way, welcoming and recommending accommodations to travelers from across Europe who were looking for something different in the Canary Islands. Since then, my main motivation has remained the same: to help people truly discover the most authentic side of the Canary Islands — its small villages, landscapes, local families, producers, and hidden routes that are rarely found in guidebooks. That unique island generosity can only be understood when it is shared by someone who lives here. Today, together with my team, we personally manage more than 350 accommodations across all the islands. Each property is carefully selected one by one. We know every host, every home, and the environment that surrounds it. We support local communities because we believe that the true essence of the Canary Islands cannot be managed from afar.
