Hi I am a South African Artist who loves to teach and demonstrate art techniques. My dream is to host art retreats and Holidays. Over the years of teaching and practicing Art I have had the joy of Exhibiting in some prestigious selected art exhibitions and also been lucky enough to won awards. Mentoring emerging artists through the exhibition process over the years gave me great pleasure and have held two solo exhibitions. As chairlady of the Paint and Pallet group I learned to run exhibitions and how to set up workshops and art demonstrations. I taught Mathematics and Art at Boksburg High School for 11 years. I love walking and in my younger days did speed walking so this village is a perfect place for me to live out my dream of hosting and teaching guests form all over the world in a beautiful safe environment.

This is a rural setting with the house on the edge of a small village where access to nature is as simple as walking out the house. A mountain retreat. This is a perfect setting for artists, walkers, day hiker, and anyone who wants to break away from the rush. Sorvilan has wonderful views down the valley to the sea. Although the four rooms are marketed separately, this house lends itself to accommodating a group of up to 10 people. There are two art rooms where guests can experiment with painting and printing. Helene is available to give workshops and lessons. The top floor has a bar area and leads onto a large terrace. The kitchen has all the equipment to self-cater, although this the lounge, dining room, terraces, and bar area are common use areas. The TV in the lounge has Amazon Prime and Netflix. This is a space to relax and reboot. Bring your book to read. The road between Los Yesos and Sorvilan open, so the sea is still accessible in 20 min. However, the road has curves and is steep. Helene lives on the upper floor of the property and is available as much or as little as you need. Retreats for artists, writers, musicians, etc. can be arranged with full catering.

Sorvilan is a village still using old farming methods to produce Almonds and wine. The village is served by vans that bring in bread, vegetables, fish and groceries. There is one bar and a restaurant in Polopos 10 km away. Hazo del Lino is 8 km from the village and is the closest restaurant. It is surrounded by cork trees and is frequented by cyclists and Motor bikers. Orgiva is 45 minutes drive away and the sea can be reached in 20 minutes. There are walking trails all around the village, and it is possible to walk to the villages of Polopos and Alfranon from Sorvilan.
