There is also a local bus service to the town centre. Nearby places to visit include the famous Caves at Maro, the picturesque white village of Frigiliana & the world famous Alhambra Palace at Granada. Nerja is a coastal town at the foot of the Almijara mountains with a long tradition of fishing and agriculture. The fishermen still pull their nets ashore on Burriana beach and fresh produce can still be bought from the doorways of local people´s houses. The weekly market (Tuesdays) attracts many traders and shoppers from all over the region and the town centre has a vibrant, friendly atmosphere with many lovely shops and tapas bars & restaurants.
