Cosy & arctic traditional Finnish holiday cottage by lake near Ivalo, c. 15 minutes drive from Ivalo by car. 2,5 km gravel road from the main road that has some bumps during summer due to frost so we don´t recommend very low car. Heating mainly by wood: authentic Finnish traditional cottage experience. We will advise with heating. There is one extra heater to bring more comfort. Location by local home: Cottage locates next to a local home, about 60 m. There is a small forest in between the houses so you have your own space. Fresh drinking water & basic fitting: The water in the lake is suitable for swimming and washing dishes but not for human consumption. We arrange canisters of fresh drinking water for you and refill it if needed. We also give you sheets & towels to use. PLEASE NOTE: Only traditional arctic outdoor toilet in use next to the cottage, no inside bathroom, and no running water in kitchen or in toilet. Traditional wood heated Sauna is possible to book in advance for extra fee. But in summer it includes in price if you heat sauna yourselves. The sauna is located in another building near main house, about 110 m from the cottage and is in family use as well. Advance bookings needed 1 day before, especially in the winter. Facilities: There is a possibility to charge a phone in the cottage but no Wifi connections. There are coffee & tea making facilities and a Nescafe Dolce gusto coffee maker. There is also a mini fridge & gas stove, but no microwave. If you are travelling with children, we have some toys outside. In summer you can also use a rowing boat of the house (life vests incl.) in the summer. There are 2 nice family dogs living in the premises. Other Lady of the house paints northern landscapes with colourful style. You're welcome in small Art gallerie in yurt, where you can visit during your stay. In Ivalo, in the nearest village, there are nice restaurants to enjoy dinner as well. It is about 15 minutes driving by car to us from Ivalo village center. Distance to Inari is about 1 hour and to Saariselkä ski resort about 40 minutes. In Inari you can visit Siida, the Sami museum, Northern Lapland Nature Center. There are lots of activities around the area, we know them well and can give you ideas for places to visit and where to book different kinds of activities.
