The cabin is located in a peaceful riverside setting in Pello, above the Arctic Circle, on the banks of the mighty Tornionjoki River. Far from streetlights, the skies here are dark and open in every direction, making this an excellent place to experience the Northern Lights. You can wait for the auroras from the warmth of the cabin or the traditional riverside sauna, and when they appear, admire them directly from the terrace. The cabin comfortably accommodates up to four guests. It has two bedrooms, each with two beds, a fully equipped kitchen, and a toilet and shower. Naturally, the cabin also features a traditional riverside sauna, offering a unique way to relax while enjoying the surrounding nature. Guests have full access to the cabin, the sauna, the large grassy yard, and the shoreline. The spacious yard offers plenty of room for children to play. In winter, guests can use snowshoes to explore the surrounding area, and sleds and sliders are available for fun in the snow. A couple of things to note: The bathroom has a separate entrance from the terrace, so you’ll need to step outside briefly to access the toilet or shower. This traditional log cabin originally had no indoor bathroom — it was added later on the terrace. In the cabin photos, you can see two doors on the terrace: the main (white) door on the right and the bathroom (grey) door on the left. The parking area and the path to the cabin are plowed by tractor in winter. The rest of the yard is not plowed, so you’ll need to walk through snow to reach the sauna. The area is known for having some of the cleanest air and forests in Europe and offers memorable nature experiences throughout the year. In summer, you can hike, pick berries and mushrooms, or fish in the Tornionjoki, one of Europe’s grandest salmon rivers and also home to greyling. From the sauna terrace, you may even see salmon leaping upstream, with Sweden visible on the opposite bank. In winter, the dark skies and minimal light pollution make this an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing. Nearby, you can also enjoy husky rides, skiing, snowshoeing, and encounters with reindeer. Thanks to its central location in Pello near the border bridge, the cabin is a convenient base for exploring Western Lapland and Northern Sweden.
