La Vieille Ferme (The Old Farmhouse) at Gayon, once a working farm, is now a tastefully renovated traditional stone longere, offering holidays in Morbihan, southern Brittany. We currently have three holiday cottages, La petite grange and our slightly larger cottage, Le grenier, which both sleep 4, and our spacious 6 person gite La Cremerie. We can also provide a crib in each cottage, on request. Each cottage has its own log burner, for those cosy evenings, and enclosed private gardens with BBQs, which lead out onto our fields. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, somewhere to discover new exciting adventures (on land, sea or air), somewhere to relax and get away from it all, a cultural and historical trip, or just a base for cycling or hiking, then look no further. We are centrally based, surrounded by many wonderful towns and cities, theme parks, inland lakes, forests and standing stones, and yet only 45 minutes from the sea. With its own microclimate, Morbihan (meaning ‘little sea’ in Breton) regularly enjoys a warmer and drier climate than the rest of Brittany.

We have met many lovely people since we moved here, and it has been great to be able to share our knowledge of the local area. Our longere is far enough away from the village of Ruffiac to enjoy nature at it's finest - we regularly see deer and wild boar, and try to encourage the smaller wildlife of birds, bees and butterflies by leaving some of our fields as wildflower meadows and providing plenty of birdboxes. We are always happy to advise on places to visit, and as we live on site, we are here if you need us.

Our nearest village, Ruffiac, is only 2 minutes drive away, 10 minute cycle (borrow one of our bikes) or a 25 minute stroll, with a baker for morning croissants, a butcher for delicious local meat, a well-stocked supermarket, a church, a restaurant, two welcoming bars and a microbrewery. We are only 10 minutes from picturesque Malestroit and La Gacilly, reknown for its annual photo exhibition with huge canvases throughout this pretty little town. We are also close to Josselin and Rochefort-en-Terre, and only a few minutes drive from the Nantes-Brest canal. The wonderful coastline of the Gulf of Morbihan, with so many beautiful beaches and coves to discover, or plenty of water sports activities for the more adventurous. The local specialities are crepes and galettes, found in just about any restaurant, but you must also try the many dishes using salted caramel butter... delicious!
