The beautiful Le Petit Chateau at 'La Tuilerie de la Roussie', originally built in 1551, is entirely yours to enjoy and is ideally situated on the banks of the River Vézere in the pre-historic area known as the 'Vallée de l'Homme' between the fascinating town of Les Eyzies and market town of Le Bugue. The property has direct access to the River Vézere and a 12km cycle path; from here you can cycle/walk along the river bank to Le Bugue / Les Eyzies and beyond. We offer you FREE MOUNTAIN (VTT) BIKES LOAN* during your stay and a FREE KAYAK EXPERIENCE*; we can take you with the kayak to Les Eyzies for you to kayak down the river (for approximately 1 hour) directly back to your accommodation. Le Petit Chateau has been tastefully refurbished retaining it's romantic charm while having features such as a walk in shower room in the turret! The small kitchen with full size gas oven is well equipped and is open-plan to the lounge which has a wood burning stove. The television has French or UK Freeview TV channels available plus, with new fibre high speed broadband, Netflix is now available. The good size bedroom has a king-size bed with luxurious mattress and a small air conditioning unit. Outside Le Petit Chateau you have your own private terrace with sun and shaded areas; there are table & chairs and two sun loungers. The fabulous 12m x 5m heated swimming pool is situated next La Tuilerie de la Roussie manor house, here you can relax on luxurious comfortable sun loungers (pool towels provided) and sun shade umbrellas. Most of the time you will have this space to yourselves, please note that guests from our other small adult only gite 'La Tuilerie Grange' also have access to the pool. The well-kept gardens are a magnet for birds so it's great for bird watching. The property is pretty secluded without being isolated. Please note: This is a non-smoking property throughout and exclusively for guests aged 18+.

La Tuilerie de la Roussie is just 5 minutes away from local restaurants, shops, supermarkets and other amenities. Around and about you can soak up the beauty of the Dordogne with its amazing chateaux and visit the many pre-historic caves and cultural experiences through 'The Valley of Man'. Our location is a perfect base to either see the sites or just relax and be. We have 4 x Mountain (VTT) bikes* for you to enjoy the cycle route from the property: “La Vézère à vélo” is a new “green way” to discover the Dordogne! This new 60 km long cycling/walking route should eventually connect the north and south of the Dordogne valley between Saint-Chamassy and Aubas. The cycle route between Saint-Chamassy and Les Eyzies opened for the summer of 2023. Additionally, we offer you a two person kayak* experience; we take you with the kayak to Les Eyzies for you to kayak down the river (for approximately 1 hour) directly *Free of charge bike and kayak loan is subject to availability, and occasionally with low river water levels use of our kayak is not possible. With the local single track train line running adjacent to our property Le Bugue train station is conveniently situated a short 10 minute walk away where you can take the train to local historic towns or Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne. Feel safe here within your own space stroll through the gardens and see the fish in the pond. Social distancing is easy with only the owners and perhaps (2x adult) guests from one other gite on this 2 acre property which has an open field to one side and a walnut tree orchard to the other with river frontage. Please note: Because we have so many water features and open to the river without safety fences and barriers this property is not suitable for children. Also to note, the stairs to the bedrooms may not be suitable for the elderly or those with reduced mobility.
