Our house is set in the relaxing countryside of the Limousin area of France and is split into two separate areas. The main house and the apartment below which is self contained comprising fully equipped kitchen, dining area, bathroom and bedroom with walk-in wardrobe. Outside there is a covered deck area for sitting out in the evening and access to the gardens. We provide all the basics such as tea, coffee and sugar plus a welcome pack with everything you will need for your first breakfast in France, French bread, croissants, jams butter and milk for that all important morning coffee.
Eileen and I are originally from Hampshire England and have recently retired to France with our two dogs, a Miniature Schnauzer called Millie and Yorkshire Terrier called Lucie. Since moving to France we have joined a theatre group, Eileen on the acting side and myself behind the scenes. Eileen has also joined a local choir who preform in the area raising money for cancer research in France. We enjoy walks with the dogs, exploring the local area (there is a lot to see) and spending time relaxing in the garden.
We are situated never to the river Brame in the quiet commune of La Valette. The local town of Magnac Laval is a short walk away, there you will find an Intermarche, a number of shops, restaurant and cafe. The A20 is a few minutes drive away with access to Limoges (45minutes) or Poitiers (1hr 20 minutes). For the active there is the CPA centre in Lathus St. Remy (25 minutes) which has kayaking, bicycle trails and an equestrian centre to name a few. Alternatively there is St. Savin with its Romanesque abbey which sits beside the Gartempe river and is a UNESCO world heritage site (open daily July - August). The town of La Dorat (15 minutes) is the host town for the 2019 world sheep shearing competition (4th - 7th July).
